Er befindet sich im Distrikt Ratnapura in der Provinz Sabaragamuwa. <br /> <br /> Der Berg ist eine Pilgerstätte für Buddhisten, Hindus, Muslime und Christen.<br /> <br /> Auf dem Gipfel steht ein bewohntes Kloster, in dem sich ein 1,8 Meter langer Fußabdruck („Sri Pada“) befindet, der von Buddhisten als Buddhas Fußabdruck verehrt wird. Hindus sehen den Fußabdruck als den von Shiva an.
